AI-driven characters

Characters in the game, including Xavier and other NPCs, are driven by artificial intelligence. When you talk to them, what you type (and, if the game ever adds voice input, what you say) is sent to an AI service provider to generate their replies. We send only what is needed for the reply, never your email or payment details. These providers process it on our behalf and may not use it to train their own models. You will always be told when you are interacting with an AI-driven character.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run the site and the game for us, under contracts that require them to protect it:

  • Cloudflare (website hosting, database, security, email sending)
  • Google (our email inbox and search listing tools)
  • Our payment provider (payments, tax, refunds), named here before payments open
  • Epic Games (Epic Online Services: accounts, matchmaking, anti-cheat) and Steam (if you buy or play through Steam)
  • AI service providers that power NPC conversation and voices, named here before online play opens

To enforce our Community Rules, we keep a record of rule breaks and the IP addresses and device or hardware identifiers linked to banned accounts, so a ban cannot simply be dodged with a new account. We keep ban records for as long as the ban lasts, plus 12 months (legal basis in the EU/UK: legitimate interests in keeping players safe and the game fair).

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect players from harm, or if the project is transferred (you will be told first).

International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers process data in the US and elsewhere. For transfers from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can see, correct, download or delete your information yourself from your account, or ask us to do it, and you can unsubscribe from any email with one click or by writing to us. We answer within 30 days.

If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, you also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to restrict processing, to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting what we did before), and to complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the rights that law gives you, including to know, delete and correct, and to not be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

To use any right, email admin@fracturedsurvival.net from the address you used with us.

Age

You must be 16 or older to join the test list, and 18 or older to back, test or play. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Cloudflare, and our admin tools are protected by two layers of sign-in. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes

We will post any change here with a new effective date, and email you before a significant change takes effect.
